Zimola Homestead Fire
This is the story of Zimola tragedy. A lost grandfather, father and the patriarch that brought the Zimola’s to America.
So much of the Zimola history was lost in the fire. Family heirlooms and documents. I remember my grandmother telling me the story of the fire and it brought tears to her eyes. An Bessie was ONE TOUGH LADY. She used to shoot at coyotes early in the morning when they came for her chickens.
She had said that when they saw the fire, Frank ran across the fields from their place to get to her father’s place, but it was too late.
There was always a family legend that he was actually robbed by a “hobo” and that the fire was started to hide the robbery. Who knows for sure.
