Malé is a municipality and village in Třebíč District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants. It has about 236 inhabitants. The first written mention of Číhalín dates from 1538, when the village was mentioned in an orphan book.

From the first mentions, Číhalín belonged to the monastery in Třebíč and subsequently to the estate in Třebíč. In 1556, Třebíč, including Číhalín, belonged to the Pernštejn family, later Třebíč belonged to Burian Osovské from Doubravice, his son Smil, and subsequently to the Valdštejn family, who owned the Třebíč estate until 1945.

The Fila family was a whole different story. Mirek had been able to locate several of our relatives in various towns. The first town was Malé, where our Fila branch originated.

Jan Fila, our 3rd-great-grandfather, was born there in 1790. He would marry Teresia Vybíralová—this Vybíral branch may be related to the one that married into the Černík family 100+ years later. They would make their way to the town of Radonín. Here, they would have seven children, including Josef, who would immigrate to America with the Zimolas in 1904.

We met with several Fila relatives and had the chance to visit their homes.

One family was in the middle of a remodel, which they were doing themselves.
