Bransouze is a municipality and village in Třebíč District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants. The town of Bransouze was home to several ancestral families that became allied through marriage.

The town of Bransouze was home to several ancestral families that became allied through marriage. One of those ancestors was our 2nd-great-grandmother, Marie Hudečková. She was married to Josef Zimola Sr., and it was their son’s family who immigrated in 1904.

Mirek had arranged a get-together with Miloslav Hudeček, our 3rd cousin 1x removed, at his house #27, where Marie Hudečková was born.

The Zimolas are also from Bransouze and lived right down the street. I’m sure their parents found the appropriate time to “arrange” that marriage at some town function.

Later in the day, we met with our Zimola relatives. There is a good-sized train station in Bransouze. We met with a smaller number of the Zimolas at their home, #35, the birthplace of our Josef Zimola.

We walked the town with them, getting a run-down on “what’s what.” We then went to the local community center for dinner. There were dozens of Zimolas, young and old. There was lots of beer and catching up between the various Zimola families, which became a family reunion for some. Mirek translated many of the conversations and gave a nice introductory speech.
